The Storm Nuke: Elemental Annihilation
(10 Storm Sorcerer / 2 Tempest Domain Cleric)
The "Storm Sorcerer Nuke" relies on a devastating mathematical interaction. In BG3, the "Wet" status doubles Lightning and Cold damage taken. The Tempest Domain Cleric, through its Channel Divinity, allows you to skip the Damage Roll entirely and apply the maximum result instead. The result? A Chain Lightning that hits for 160 guaranteed damage on 4 targets simultaneously.
1. Character Creation & Stats
We start as Sorcerer to gain proficiency in Constitution Saving Throws (to avoid losing Concentration on spells like Haste).
- Optimal Race: Half-Elf or Human (for shield proficiency if you are not wearing heavy armour), or Blue/Lightning Dragonborn (for thematic resistance).
- Background: Charlatan or Noble.
27-Point Allocation:
- Strength: 8 (Useless)
- Dexterity: 14 (Initiative and Armour Class)
- Constitution: 16 (Hit Points and Concentration)
- Intelligence: 8 (Dump stat)
- Wisdom: 10 (Just enough to avoid penalties)
- Charisma: 17 (Primary stat for your Sorcerer spell accuracy and damage. +1 via the Hag's Hair = 18)
2. Leveling (Level 1 to 12)
The build takes a little while to come online, but becomes an absolute steamroller starting at level 7.
3. Best in Slot (BiS) Equipment
To deal apocalyptic damage, you need items that raise your spell save DC and grant you free castings.
The Sceptre of the Lightning God
LÉTAL- Main Weapon (Act 3): Markoheshkir (Ramazith's Tower, Vault). This legendary staff grants you the "Kereska's Favour" buff (Lightning). It lets you cast Chain Lightning for free once per Short Rest!
The rest of the equipment:
- Off-Hand Weapon (Act 3): Staff of Spell Power (House of Hope). Thanks to the Dual Wielder feat, wield this second staff for another free casting (Arcane Battery).
- Head (Act 3): Hood of the Weave (Philgrave's Mansion). +2 to spell save DC.
- Amulet (Act 3): Amulet of the Devout (Tabernacle Vault). Adds a Channel Divinity charge. You can perform TWO maximised nukes per Short Rest!
- Armour: Heavy Armour of your choice (e.g., Helldusk Armour) or the Robe of the Weave if you prefer to maximise spell save DC.
Objet manqué
Amulet of the Devout (If you don't want to rob the gods)
Plan B — Alternative
Amulet of Greater Health (House of Hope) to lock your Constitution at 23 and never lose Concentration.
4. The Death Loop (Combat Rotation)
The objective is to set the stage with water, then press the nuclear button.
- Turn 1 - The Setup (Action): Cast Create Water or throw a water bottle/barrel onto the group of enemies. They are now "Wet" (Vulnerable to Lightning).
- The Trigger (Bonus Action): Use your Metamagic Quickened Spell to cast Chain Lightning (or Call Lightning / Lightning Bolt if you are not level 12).
- Judgment Day (Reaction): The game asks if you want to use your Destructive Wrath. Say YES.
- Mathematical Breakdown: Chain Lightning deals 10d8 damage. Destructive Wrath locks the roll to 80. The Wet status multiplies by 2. 160 instant damage to the primary target AND to three nearby targets. The fight is over.
